Promoting Sustainable Cities Together with "Green Oriented" Israeli Businesss

Although cities cover only 0.4 percent of the Earth’s surface, they generate the bulk of world carbon emissions, making urban areas key to alleviating the climate crisis.  Green building methods  are an effective strategy toward reducing carbon emissions, waste, and use of energy and water.  They are a vital component in the vision for a sustainable urban environment. We believe that the environmental challenges facing us today demand multi-sector convergence of for-profit, not-for profit, government and academia towards common goals.

Shomera is working with the people and businesses that are de-facto greening our planet as a way of furthering our mission of creating sustainable communities.

The Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce's Greywater Recycling Unit

Shomera accompanies The Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce's Greywater Recycling Unit Grey Water Recling Unit - a group of businesses specilaizing in greywater recycling treatement systems. The objective of the unit is to promote the integration of greywater recycling in Israel by supporting regulatory efforts, quality assurance monitoring mechanisms and the like. Shomera is the only NGO to accompany the management committee of the unit.

i-Consortium

Shomera was one of the original organizations and the only NGO to help establish Israel’s first Consortium of Energy and Security services and technologies.  The iConsortium, founded in 2007, is a group of Israeli companies and organizations that came  together to provide a comprehensive approach to the greening and security of buildings by integrating their high caliber greenbuilding, clean-tech and security technologies and services.

The iConsortium is involved with a variety of national initatives including the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy  Initiative. Shomera was the NGO representative to the steering committee of the Eilat Eilot Renewable Energy Conference held in February 2010.
