Our Work

Shomera promotes urban sustainability and quality of life via initiatives which oftentimes, are pioneering and trendsetting.

“The Greywater Recycling Initiative” was a strategic undertaking to promote the integration of greywater recycling in Israel, with aim of bolstering the sustainability of cities and strengthen the water economy at large.

Shomera’s work of Early years was field based and focused on metropolitan Jerusalem, including preserving open spaces (primarily the Jerusalem Forest), water conservation, community greening, educational and community programs to enhance the connection between Judaism and Environment, work with special needs groups and more. While locally implemented, many of the initiatives were intended to serve as models, to influence and impact beyond Shomera’s geographical niche.

Till this day, Shomera is involved with certain activism efforts to protect the Jerusalem Forest.
